Looks like things are running, but I would expect the number of rows
synced up to be much larger. The log snippet of the slave log only
synced 23 rows, and it took it 2 minutes to do so. No wonder it's not
catching up!

Increase the max sync group size to something much larger, say 500 or
so. Also, can you get a larger snippet from the slave's log file?

I believe that this is normal when you have a backlog. The logs can
only switch once you've caught up.
