after you've run configure;  inside the file Makefile.global
what is the line

FLEX= 

set to?
or is it empty?

If it is empty, then configure isn't finding  flex.  What is does the
config.log say (can you send this to me)

If FLEX is set to a non-empty value then the question is why isn't it building
stuff.

If you manually switch to the src/slony_logshipper  directory and run make or
"make clean;make" will it call flex to build scan.c ?
