I suspect it won't be that hard to get 1.2 to compile against 9.2, the patches to get 2.1.x compiling against 9.2 were not that involved. It won't work well because of the serialization conflicts that slony prior to 2.1.1 gets with PG 9.1+ but it might work well enough for an upgrade. (I also can't say if there are any other issues with running 1.2 against 9.2 since I've never tried it). Your other option is, as Chris mentioned, to upgrade in two steps.
