Oh, that's something of a surprise.

I had taken "must remove use of pg_listener table" as a takeaway from
the 2008 PgCon, because that was to be going into 8.4.

OK, so maybe reworking 1.2.x for 8.4 isn't quite so scary a quantity
of work...
