There is a really fundamental problem with this idea, which is that "clustering" of this sort tends to require integration with the operating system. Because PostgreSQL is an OS-agnostic project (save for looking at the world from a POSIX perspective), and Slony-I tries to be, too, that makes it a fair bit challenging to turn either into "a clustering solution."
