I suspect this is talking about the slons. In which case, you don't need to
run a slon on the windows machine. You can run both slons on the linux box.
However I would suggest that you run the slons for each machine from the
machine it is managing (unless you have dedicated management servers on the
same LAN, in which case, run them there).

I assume that you already know this but I'll reiterate to be sure: please do
not run ancient versions of the software. You are almost always better off
running the latest 1.2.x release since there are very few features being
added to 1.2 anymore, but plenty of bug-fixes have gone in.
