Pascal --

I've posted a similar question and have been monitoring this and other list=
s for some time, and I _think_ that Slony1 will quite happily deal with spa=
tial data; Slony1 does not seem to be limited to native PostgreSQL types.

The one gotcha might be speed if there are lots of large spatial objects to=
be moved because of updates or inserts.

I'll be wading into this in the next few weeks and will post here or to the=
postGIS list if I find any issues.

Apologies for top-posting -- very challenged mail reader.

Subject: [Slony1-general] Slony1 and Geospatial data using PostGis
 =

Hello all!

We're looking at migrating our the mecanism for replicating our =

production database to a spare server. Currently it's replicated every =

hour using in-house scripts and working well but will not produce a =

"fresh" copy of the database in case of switch.

That's why slony1 seems the best solution for us as we don't need to =

have two live DBs but a replication mecanism that is able more real-time.
The issue is that we are using spatial data with "PostGis" ( a library =

of types and functions to handle spatial data ).

I search the slony1 FAQ and googling but didn't find any information =

about the couple "Slony1-PostGis".
=3D=3D>Do you know if slony1 works with PostGis, do we have any feedback =

about mixing them ? Is there any known issue or success story ?

Thank you for help !

Pascal.
