There is now an "official" Debian release, at least in the experimental distribution. See the latest bit of news on <http://slony.info/> :-) > Will older versions of Postgres continue to be supported by Slony? Until we have compelling reason to break off compatibility. I'd like to drop 7.3, as its namespace handling and name quoting handling is too often painfully different from the later releases. But nothing has been *so* compelling as to make it really worthwhile to do so. At some point, dropping 7.3 will doubtless become compelling; fortunately that is not disastrous, as you'd have the option of doing a phased upgrade to (say) 1.4. Suppose we drop 7.3 support in Slony-I 1.3. (That is entirely plausible; supporting 7.3 is starting to get a bit painful.) You could upgrade your old PG 7.3 system to 8.2 using a two phase approach: 1. Upgrade from 7.3 to 8.1 using Slony-I 1.1 or 1.2 (which, at that point, are pretty old versions) 2. Upgrade from 8.1 to 8.2 using Slony-I 1.3 That's not as good as doing it in one step, but you oughtn't be totally screwed. That's how I see it, anyways...
