Speaking as the current official maintainer of that project, I can
say that I regard it as moribund, yes.  The commercial version is
apparently still being maintained by PostgreSQL, Inc.  But I suggest
to everyone that they use Slony instead.  Certainly, if erserver will
work for you, Slony will.
