Slonik's,

slon got a few commandline switches.

     -d debuglevel
     -s milliseconds           sync interval (100..60000 default 10000)
     -g groupsize              max sync group size (default 6)

the max sync group size means that slon will look ahead in it's event 
queue and if more sync events are available, group multiple of them 
together into one step. This definitely has an upper limit, because the 
larger the selection, the more likely it is that sort sets on the master 
need to get spooled out to disk.
