Per discussion amongst Slony team...

Consider splitting some things currently in slon threads off into separate
processes.

Benefits...

- Simpler processes

- No weird interaction with threading

- Can just restart the process, and perhaps impose a periodic restart so
connections get closed and recreated, and there's no risk of Evil where
connections and/or processes have gotten old and bloated
