you should add  (as said in previous mails)

$DEBUGLEVEL ||= 0;

in tools/altperl/slon-tools.pm (start_slon function) after

$SYNC_CHECK_INTERVAL ||= 1000;

to initialize the debuglevel if not done in configuration cause slon 
would not start in this case.
